Figo wins another price
Every two years, Ascat, the official organisation of catalog, album and stamp magazine publishers, awards the so-called Grand Prix.
In 1994, the prize went to the Swiss postal services and in 1996 to Prince Rainier of Monaco. In 1998, IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch was awarded the prize and in 2000 it went to Bertrand Piccard, the first man to fly around the planet in a hot air balloon.
This year, in November, the Grand Prix will be awarded too. Tha Ascat has already aanounced who will win the trophy: the worldfamous Portuguese football player Luis Filipe Madeira Figo, known by football fanatics as Figo. In order to honour Figo - a stamp collector - a special Figo stamp will be issued by Monaco, during the exposition 'Monaco 2002' which will be held in the second half of this year.
