German referee on Norwegian stamps
A german referee on a Norwegian stamp?
Before the emission of the stamp, it was announced that the ref depicted on it would be a 27 year old Norwegian referee, Lars Johan Hammer. No wonder Hammer proudly informed his family and friends about his upcoming perpetuation. But when the first pictures of the stamp were published, Hammer, to his disappointment, had to state that he was not on the stamp at all. In his place, there was a totally unknown referee on it. Some research showed that, by accident, the picture of a German ref, Peter Hertel from Berlin, was used for the picture. 'Luckily, Mr. Hertel took it well,' Posten Norge writes in the press release accompanying the emission of the soccer stamps. How the original 'model' took it, was not mentioned in the 'Posten'...
