Sir Paul designs stamps for the Isle of Man
In his younger years, one of the two living Beatles made a trip to the Island, that made a lasting impression.
‘I still remember how it was and how friendly people were’, says Paul. ‘And all of that for a lanky boy form Liverpool.’
And today, half a cantury later, Sir Paul gives something in return : he designed a series of stamps for the post services of the Isle of Man. So for McCartney, who is known for being mad about painting for many years, the idea of an ‘extra job’ as a stamp designer is a very surprising one. We have to say that the musical multibillionaire does not earn one cent for his designs : the money earned with the series goes to ‘Adopt A-Minefield’, a charity which provides help to the victims of minefields.
