New York Skyline will change...
Amongst the 50 different Greetings stamps issued by the US in 2002 (one stamp per state), there is, of course, one stamp dedicated to the State of New York. The American stamp magazine Linn’s Stamp News asked a spokesman of the post services whether the design of the stamp had probably underwent some changes, now the skyline of NY had to do without the striking Twin Towers since 9/11.This indeed appeared to be the case: the WTC would normally have been depicted on the stamp, but now that the situation had changed so dramatically, it didn’t seem to be a good idea to issue the stamp unchangedly. The designer replaced the Twin Towers on the 34 cent stamp by, what the post services call a general type of skyscraper.
