Tourist labels : limited use
In the latest edition of Die Lupe, a sales brochure of the Swiss postal services, two quite extraordinary stamps are announced.
Concerned are two labels without any value indication with the image of an edelweiss carrying the Swiss flag in its heart. The one stamp features the text Cards Europe, the other Cards Worldwide. That precisely indicates the goal of these valueless stamps: they can be used on cards that are sent from Switzerland by tourists. Their use on letters and in 'mixed frankings' is not allowed. The labels are quite expensive: a six-piece booklet 'Europe' costs 7.20 Swiss francs. The stamps are sold by the Swiss postal services since November 19th, 2002.
